Austrian-based artist, Susi Jirkuff (b. 1966, Linz, Austria) explores consumer culture, pop music, and authentic emotionality in her 2009 hand-drawn animation People Who Like Bonnie Tyler. Inspired by her visit to an online chat room for the singer Bonnie Tyler, Jirkuff created animated portraits of fans singing Tyler’s 1983 hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart” interspersed with texts of praise and devotion from adoring fans.
