Videos by Patte Loper, 2009-2011

Nature and culture overlap in Patte Loper’s video trilogy of hand drawn animations. The first, Zizek, is based on Slavoj Zizek’s lecture, “The Reality of the Virtual.”  The second work, All Who Love, animates a tiny bat that has been placed in a glass terrarium, inspired by Jean Painleve’s 1945 film, Le Vampire.  Finally,  Good Bye 20th Century illustrates a deer that was filmed walking in complete darkness.

Loper  is a participant in the Open Sessions program at The Drawing Center; her work is featured in our exhibit Open Session 2 from November 21 – December 14.
