Over the next three weeks we will feature three animations by Jessica Mein (b. 1975, Brazil) on the occasion of her solo exhibition Obras on view at Simon Preston Gallery through December 23. In these animated short films, drawing is used as a means of recording the ever-changing landscape, and presenting creative responses to specific environmental conditions. Billboard (2010), made from drawn and collaged photographic stills, depicts a worker in the outskirts of São Paulo installing a commercial billboard during a time when billboards were outlawed.
